The Gospels Survey – 12 Lessons
The Gospels are introductory to the whole of the New Testament presenting four views from
four very different and yet devoted men chosen by the Lord to write what they saw and experienced.
The composite picture of the Lord within these books will aid the student in an understanding of the
rest of the New Testament.
In each of the Gospels we will see Christ differently and yet the same. For instance: Matthew
presents the Lord as Messiah-King [The Lion] showing His Sovereignty; Mark presents the Lord as
Jehovah's Servant [The Ox] showing His Humility; Luke presents the Lord as The Son of Man [The
Man] showing His Humanity; and John presents the Lord as The Son of God [The Eagle] showing His
Deity.
The goal of this course is to look from a panoramic type view of the Gospels as a whole and
then to zoom in slightly on each Gospel affording an overall compact picture of the foundation to the
New Testament.

Once we have accepted Christ as our savior all is not over. We are now to Grow in grace as in
II Peter 3:18, “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him
be glory both now and for ever. Amen.”
To grow in grace is to mature as a Christian. We are saved by grace through faith (Ephesians
2:8–9), and we mature and are sanctified by grace alone. We know that grace is a blessing that we don’t
deserve. It is God’s grace that justifies us, sanctifies us, and eventually glorifies us in heaven. The
sanctification process, becoming more like Christ, is synonymous with growing in grace.
We grow in grace by reading God’s Word and letting it “dwell in us richly” (Colossians 3:16)
and by praying. Those actions by themselves don’t mature us, but God uses these spiritual disciplines
to help us grow.
Maturing in our Christian life is not about what we do, but about what God does in us, by His
grace. Understanding and applying God’s grace in our lives is important and is the purpose of this 13
week course.
To grow in grace is to grow in our understanding of what Jesus did and to grow in our
appreciation of the grace we have been given. The more we learn about Jesus, the more we will
appreciate all He has done, and the more we appreciate His love and sacrifice for us, the more we will
perceive the never-ending grace of God.
Paul said in Colossians 3:1–4: “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are
above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. 2 Set your affection on things above, not on things
on the earth. 3 For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. 4 When Christ, who is our life,
shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.”
The Scriptures contain all the knowledge we will ever need to learn of God, His Son, and His
Spirit, at least in this life. It is the desire of God for His children is their sanctification and
transformation. He wants us to become more holy like Himself. He wants to transform us into the
image of His Son.
The way to do this is by pondering on the Scriptures and applying their principles to our lives as
we yield to the conviction and power of the Holy Spirit who dwells within us. This course is for the
newly saved as well as the grown servant of the Lord and is to be approached with the upmost sincerity
and expectation

Acts Survey – 13 weeks
The book of Acts forms a bridge between the Gospels and Paul’s epistles. Almost every
commentator on Acts maintains its purpose is to tell the story of the birth and growth of the church.
While the birth of the church is found in Acts, Luke’s purpose was far different.
As the Gospels record to earthly ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ and the New Testament
Epistles give us the doctrines to guide and govern those who have trusted the Lord Jesus Christ as their
Savior, the Book of Acts records the history of our Lord's disciples and their converts as they spread the
Gospel throughout the world.
The goal of this study is to present an overall picture rather than an in-depth verse-by-verse
study which may be found on Growing In Grace Ministries' FaceBook page. We will present at least
two chapters with each lesson which will contain a brief summary of each chapter as well as an outline
for the entire book of Acts and several miscellaneous facts.
